NOTHING MORE HEARTWRENCHING THAN A SICK CHILD
Bob called us Monday and told us he had to take off his last day at work to go get Decovin and take him home. Jen & Camden were on their way by ambulance to Children's Mercy South. Camden was dehydrated and very lethargic. He and Decovin were both throwing up so she took them to the base to their doctor and they couldn't get an IV in Camden as his veins would collapse. They tried twice in one hand, once in the other, and twice in his head. So they sent him on to Children's Mercy so they could do it with smaller needles. Well they did put a feeding tube down his nose to his stomach and fed him that way. Jen called and said they were on their way finally at 2:00. David took off early and we went up to see them. They put him in room 328 and fed him some more through the feeding tube. They decided against trying to put an IV in him. When we got there he was sleeping in Jen's arms and she was rocking him. She said he looked a lot better than he did in the morning. They said he has RSV which is hard on babies cause they can't cough up the mucous themselves. Jen said she couldn't get anything with her little sqeeze tube but they did with their force suction. Anyway, they ended up keeping Camden until today. I just talked to Jen and she said they are doing the paperwork but didn't know how long they would be. Monday night David went to Warrensburg with Christy and She stayed with Decovin while they went to get Jen's car off the base. David drove it back to the hospital and then we went home. Tuesday, mom went with me to my Dr. & eye Dr. apptmts. I am fine and am getting cataracts on both eyes evidently. Aging isn't fun FYI. Then when we got home, David and I packed my bags in the car. We stopped to see Jen & Camden and then headed for Warrensburg to drop me & my bags off. Christy was just leaving and took Jen some more clothes. She had taken one of her personal days off to watch D. I am going to stay awhile until Jen gets some rest. Did I mention that they were all sick? Bob included. Poor little Camden couldn't hardly squeek out a cry. He did give me a croaky "goo" last night. Bless him.
